I have many
memories of language arts, but one of my first memories was from second grade. My
particular memory was reading groups. The class was split up into groups of
five to seven students and each group would take time to sit at the reading
table with the teacher. I remember being a strong reader at that age, so I was
placed in one of the higher preforming groups. Every day, we would spend some
time at this reading table where the other students and I would take turns
reading. After reading we would be asked a few questions and either write down
or discuss the answers on the reading passage. I like the idea of reading groups because more time is focused on each student and I would like to incorporate that into my classroom one day. I always remember my teacher being very
encouraging and guiding us if there was any struggle. So overall, I had
a great language arts experience from a young age.
